Halloween
Run a Halloween word game for mixed ages with 18 phrases and clues, a timed party plan, and three ways to use the same word bank.
These Halloween word games use the same bank of answers in three different ways. Choose the phrase board for a shared-screen party, the clue relay when you want to play without devices, or the story chain for a cooperative finish.
Prepare the words before guests arrive. For a mixed-age group, choose mostly the easy set and use the playful challenge phrases as optional extras. Ask the organizer whether a Halloween theme suits the group; pumpkin patch, crunchy leaves and glowing lantern also work in a general autumn round.
You need: a prepared Fortunate Wheel game, a host screen that everyone can see, internet access and the participant devices your chosen plan supports. Use four puzzles and one spare; finishing every puzzle is not the goal.
Keep the answer list on the host's private screen. Share the game board, not this page. If you need help preparing the room, use the hosting guide.
Choose six answers. Split into two or three groups and give one host all six clues. Read a clue aloud, allow each group to discuss for about 20 seconds, then ask every group to write one guess on scrap paper and reveal together. Award one point for an exact answer, or accept the closest clear equivalent if you announced that rule first.
For “a place to choose an orange autumn decoration,” Pumpkin patch is the intended answer. A younger group may offer Pumpkin farm; decide before play whether that counts. Rotate the writer each round. No player is eliminated, and the host keeps any score on paper.
Read three solved phrases, such as Black cat, Glowing lantern and The pumpkin wore a hat. The first player begins a story using one phrase. Each person adds one sentence, trying to use the remaining phrases before the story ends.
Give the group one minute to plan and two minutes to tell the story. Allow a pass or a partner contribution. There is no winner to calculate: the shared challenge is to include all three phrases in a story that makes sense.
Use a clear, readable shared display and read clues aloud. Pair younger readers with older teammates. Offer a non-spooky alternative when needed, and skip a suspenseful clue if someone dislikes it.
If the room gets noisy, give each group one spokesperson and ask everyone else to suggest answers quietly. Have an easy spare puzzle ready; a small success is a better ending than leaving the group stuck on your hardest phrase.
Choose a few answers from this resource, then add each answer, category and clue in the manual game editor. Review the board before hosting. These examples are a preparation sheet; the button opens game creation and does not automatically import the list.
Participants join in a browser with a room code. Choose team or individual play when launching. Free accounts can save up to three games and host up to three participant devices; check current plan limits before inviting a larger group.
Any discussion prompts, lesson timings and extra scoring suggested here are instructions for the host to run. They are not automatic grading features.
